Yes, we can coordinate a class for you – with a minimum of 3 students!
Classes are an hour in length and include materials. Themes are created throughout the year and will be modified and expanded upon based on individual class needs and expressed desires.
January 2013BACK IN TIME TO… THE MIDDLE AGESSTARTS 2ND WEEK OF JANUARY | |
Nobility. Kings. Knights. Castles and Coat of Arms. Illuminated Letters.
In medieval times, the nobility included Kings, Lords, Knights, and Ladies. They lived in fortified castles and hung portraits and tapestries. Monk Artists created beautiful works in hand copied bibles. Our artwork will include a noble self portrait like those painted by Hans Holbein the Younger. We will create colorful castles, weave tapestry designs, design a coat of arms and illuminated letters.

Session Goals:
Apply the elements and principles of design introducing art terms such as line, value, form
Classify artworks as portraits, self portrait, landscape, still life, genre, paintings sculpture and architecture.
- Produce two artworks, using a variety of materials (paints, chalks, textiles), tools, processes and technologies
- Using actual history and heraldry symbols and apply the creative process
Concepts: symbolism, realism and the use of images to convey a story
Identify and describe the difference between representational abstract and non representational artworks
- Demonstrate an understanding of connections between art and cultural identity or context
Cross Curricula: History of Middle Ages and Renaissance, Science – egg tempera and pigments
Artists: Hans Holbein, Renaissance Artists and textile art in the form of tapestries

Flora and Fauna and insects

Spring is in the air and the art room will burst forth with color and pattern. This session will focus on flowers and insects and patterns in nature. Students will work with a variety of media and art styles based on their skill level. Adding a 3 dimensional element to our work. We will create natural bug, toad or fairy home, sculpt with clay and create our own Warhol images that are nature inspired. Older students will be introduced to works from Seurat and Money

Earth and Sky

Two lessons are ‘grounded’ landscapes focusing on perspective the additional two projects in this seesion will be out of this world to include some super planetary excitement.

Transportation
4 class session $60
plane, trains, autos and ships. We will create images with an element of transportation.
June 2013
Ocean above and below
4 class session $60
An all new unit that will explore the ocean its surface and of course the world of color and mystery below. We will take our 'yellow submarine' and create some pop art. Using watercolor techniques create an ocean diorama that is 3 dimensional. We will also explore the coast with works of art that take us into the sunset.
